Inspired by nature
Hekla Björk Guðmundsdóttir is born on the 18th of January 1969. She´s a designer/artist who was brought up at Laugaland in Rangárvallasýsla, Iceland, surrounded by the volcanic mountains of the south.
Hekla designs and produces under the brand name Heklaíslandi.
The beginning of Heklaíslandi was in 1996 when Hekla started to make giftcards that were replicas of her previous paintings.
Hekla has always been involved in art and design and gets all her inspiration from Icelandic nature and traditions. The Golden Plover, sheep, horses and the wild flora of Iceland have also played a major role in Hekla´s creations
Hekla´s paintings are strong in most of her design where “Hekla the designer” and “Hekla the artist” combine in a unique result.
Hekla´s art is diverse and she uses various materials such as aluminium, linen, wood and paper.
The aim of Heklaíslandi is to continue to design and produce quality products with unique Icelandic/Nordic impact.
